You will not see in your insurance policy any requirement that you use a particular vendor.  In fact, the insurance company's incentive is to have you use the cheapest vendors because it saves them money!  But this is your home, your property, and Fischer's goal is to help you make sure you get help in advocating for your side of the insurance contract.

Whether or not you want to file a claim may depend on your estimated costs, your deductible, and your specific policy.  Fischer recommends that you review your specific policy, and reach out to your insurance company as early as possible in the process so you can get the best guidance on whether or not and when to file an actual claim.

Step 1: Emergency Response - Call NOW!

Fischer Restoration is on-call 24/7 so that we can respond quickly to any water or fire damage and reduce the amount of damage.  The sooner you call, the lower your mitigation costs will be.

Step 2: Inspection

Fischer’s IICRC certified technicians will inspect the situation and determine a plan.  We will identify and address the source of the water, identify the type of water, fully inspect the extent of current damage to the premises, and outline a water extraction and mitigation plan.

Step 3: Water Removal

Using specialized equipment and industry standard techniques, Fischer’s technicians will remove sitting water and water absorbed into carpet and other porous materials through a process called extraction.

Step 4: Dry Out & Remediation

Fischer’s IICRC trained and certified technicians will use what is called psychrometry, or the science of drying, to strategically place industrial air movers, dehumidifiers, and heaters to create an optimal drying environment. Fischer then uses industry standard equipment and moisture monitoring equipment to monitory the drying environment until the equipment can be safely removed.

In some cases, materials may be either damaged beyond repair by the water or the cost of drying difficult-to-dry materials may indicate the need to demolish or remove materials all-together.  In severe cases, Fischer technicians may need to remove appliances, cabinets, baseboard, drywall, and other materials in order to most cost effectively restore your home to its pre-damage state.

Step 5: Clean, Sanitize as Needed

Depending on the circumstances, Fischer technicians may use antimicrobial, antibacterial, or other disinfectant treatments to clean your contents and property.

Step 6: Repairs, Restoration

The final step in the process is to restore the home to its pre-damaged state.  Fischer is an experienced general contractor that uses preferred material vendors, internal employees, and long-term subcontractor relationships as needed to complete repair work.  Fischer’s experience spans plumbing, heating and air, electrical and remodeling.  We can handle commercial or residential repair construction projects and are experienced in jobs ranging from repairing small drywall holes to completely rebuilding entire condo unit interiors across multiple affected units.

Some vendors make the promise to be done drying within three days. This is a false promise because every home and situation is unique. It is frequently possible to dry a home in three days, but this is dependent upon very specific conditions, such as:

• Time of material exposure to moisture.
• Nature of the affected materials.
• The amount of water.
• The initial condition of the flooded material.
• The location of the flood (such as multiple stories).
• Available power and security of the home.
• Climate and ability to leverage the outside environment in the drying process.
• Ability to control manage the internal temperature.
• Cost assessments: Sometimes it is more cost effective to use less equipment over a slightly longer period of time.  Sometimes it is more cost effective to take longer to dry versus to demolish and repair.
